Housing Advance

The trustee has a Housing Advance Scheme for its members. The application forms and the accompanying guidelines have been re—designed in line with the requirements of the new superannuation legislation.

To qualify a member must have contributed to the fund for a minimum of five years. The advance is to be used either for the purchase or construction of a house that is in the principal place of residence for the member.

The maximum advance available is the member's balance of contributions and interest at the time of application. The amount may not exceed 40% of the member's total entitlements.

A further advance may be given to the member when the advance is fully repaid.

Members may only be granted an advance where they undertake to repay the advance by way of additional voluntary member contributions of at least 2% of normal pay. This additional 2% contribution is on top of your normal 6% contributions. Proof of title over the land and, where the land is customary, proof of right to build on the land must be provided.
